Brittown: a British motorcycle documentary
brittown-cover

Brittown features legendary underground mechanic and Britbike connoisseur "Meatball" from the Hell On Wheels bike shop in Anaheim, CA as he eats, drinks, and sleeps British iron; using all his skill to transform an old 650 Triumph Bonneville motor into a barely-legal road racer.

2nd Annual Miss Hell On Wheels was a Rip-roarin' Good Time

Miss Hell On Wheels '08!

Somehow between wrenchin' on old Brit iron, racing on weekends, playin' in his band and waiting for a new baby, Meatball found a way to pull off his second successful Miss Hell On Wheels rally and vintage lingerie beauty pageant.

Mods vs. Rockers - Chicago Rules
Mods vs. Rockers!
It's official, Chi-town Ton-up knows how to put on a show. There must have been at least 500 bikes lining both sides of the street and everyone was cool and having a great time. Fletch and the gang were great hosts (thanks Greg!) and the screening and after-party at The Bottom Lounge went late into the night.

Amsterdam: cool weather, good times
Amsterdam Choppertown Premiere

The weather was bit cooler than expected, but still nice and clear; Hotel Arena was great with nice bar and we had a chance to meet and bond with the team from Dickies Europe. It was really interesting to hear how people perceive Dickies over here.

Hamburg Harley Days & St. Pauli
Hamburg Harley Days
We're a few days behind in posting, but it's been a pretty crazy 14 days so we beg forgiveness... Our buddy Lutz picked us up in Amsterdam and drove us to Hamburg where Harley Days was in full swing. Once a year 100,000 bikers take over the red-light district of St. Pauli, Hamburg. It's quite a show and to top it off, Germany played their Euro Cup match and won. For us Yanks a soccer match might not mean so much, but for the rest of the world "football" (soccer) is an obsession. It was pretty amazing to sit there watching Germany win their match and see the whole city explode into honking horns and drunkeness in the streets. Oh yeah there were some cool bikes there too. ;)

Sweden (a.k.a. "Little America")
bosse jensen

We landed at a tiny airfield amidst lakes and rolling green hills and met up with our friends Mattias and Gunilla from Gasoline Magazine (quite possibly the coolest mag on the planet). Therein begins one of the most amazing weeks. We walk out to Mattias' car, a Buick Roadmaster station wagon and head off down the road to Kungsor.

Helsinki - Land of Light
Helsinki
Landed in Helsinki and our good buddy Segu from Kopteri Magazine picked us up in his crazy Ford racer. As we drove through the rain our minds were still blown from our experience in Stockholm and we were curious what Helsinki had in store. Going to Finland is one of those dreamlike trips for an American; it's so far north and a bit off the beaten path...

Munich - Good Burgers, Good Beer
Land Unter

Our heads still spinning from our blast through Scandinavia, we hopped a flight back down to Munich for a Choppertown screening at a cozy neighborhood bar called Land Unter. Our buddy Michael from Voodoobeat set it up and it was a great night filled with much drinking of local brew, peach schnapps, and one of the best burgers I may have ever had.

ALERT - Sleepy Mountain Town Invaded by Triumph Biker Fanatics (Tridays) Triumph Tridays

It had been pouring rain all day and we were a bit down, but there was a hint of something in the air. As we wandered up Main Street past billowing Union Jacks and a sign reading “Underground” we began to feel a bit more out of sorts than usual...this is Austria, right? Then a brand new Triumph Triple came screaming past; and another, and another. The invasion had begun...

Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover – Speyer, Germany Flaming Star

I have to admit that we were pretty tired at this point and hadn’t really heard much about Speyer; hadn’t heard ANYTHING actually. It’s a small to mid-sized town an hour outside of Frankfurt and we kind of viewed it as just a one-night stop on our way to Barcelona... If you hear crunching sounds from now on don’t worry, it’s just the sound of us eating a heaping plate of humble pie...

Barcelona - Passion for Life and Passion for Bikes Razzamatazz Barcelona

One thing that keeps striking us on this trip is all the friends we’re finally meeting for the first time after so many emails and calls, some for several years. At every stop we’re met with a new set of warm embraces and friendly smiles. Barcelona was no different.

Paris - City of Light Frog and Princess

What a fantastic city. Wandered the streets in a thunderstorm, hid out in a tiny shack guarded by a tough lady behind Notre Dame (it's very important to tip for the loo!), discovered empty corridors of the Louvre piled to the ceiling with ancient artwork, stared out the window at the Eiffel Tower lit up at midnight, and ended up in a Brittown party at the Frog and Princess Pub on rue Princesse in St. Germain-des-prés (best burger in Paris award).
